Obituary of Jerry Lee Markley
Jerry Lee Markley, age 77, passed away on Monday, February 19th, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Jerry was born in Cincinnati on April 28th, 1940 to Charles R. Markley and Mary L. Markley. Jerry attended Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati. He married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia, on May 1st, 1965. He began working at the Cincinnati Milacron and Cincinnati Machine at age 18, where he traveled throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States. After flying over 3 million miles as a loyal employee, Jerry retired from the company after 54 years of service. He was active in the Cincinnati Milacron Boy Scout Troop 399 beginning as a young boy Eagle Scout and a Silver Beaver, and eventually becoming the Scoutmaster of his boyhood and Milacron company troop. He then went on to serve as a Commissioner for the local Boy Scouts of America organization.
Jerry was also a founding father of the Cincinnati Citizens on Patrol. He was a hard-working member and volunteered many years with the organization. His countless contributions and accomplishments are still widely observed today. While he was dedicated to his community and his career, perhaps most importantly, Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (“Dadaw”), and friend. Nearly every summer was spent with family in Siesta Key, Florida, one of his favorite places to be. He always put the needs of his family first and loved them beyond measure.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 52 years Patricia (nee Norris) Markley, his children Julie (Brian) Williamson, K.C. (Katy) Markley, Jason Markley, and Kerry (Darrin) Graczyk, and his grandchildren Matthew Zimmerman, Meagan (Chris) Prampero, Kyle (Taylor) Williamson, Tyler Williamson, Shannon Williamson, Lindsey Emory, Chelsie Markley, Kelly Hood, Maggie Markley, Charlie Markley, Allye Markley, Kailey Brown, and Nick (Kyra) Graczyk. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, his sister Jean Ann Pickens, his cousin Thomas (Jack) Vaughn, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
