Obituary of Louis J. Illing
On Thursday, December 24, 2020, Louis J Illing, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at the age of 95.
Lou was born on May 24,1925 in Cincinnati, OH to Michael and Anna Illing. He graduated from Woodward High School and enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country in WW2. Lou was honorably discharged with 3 bronze stars, and several ribbons and medals. On July 24,1948, Lou married Betty J Doggitt, and they raised two children, son Jerry and daughter Pamela. He was the proud grandfather to Chad and Angela, and great grandfather to Ella, Caden, and Gavin. Lou served as the Safety Service Director for the city of Deer Park, and eventually retired from General Electric after many years.
Lou had a love for life. He was friendly to everyone he met, and could strike up a conversation like no other. He loved all sports and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, and U.C. Bearcats. Most of all, Lou enjoyed spending time with family.
Lou was preceded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Pamela, brothers, sisters and parents. He is now reunited with his loved ones in Heaven. We find comfort in knowing he looks down as a protector to his son Jerry, grandchildren Chad and Angela, great grandchildren Ella, Caden, and Gavin, and several cousins, nieces and nephews for eternity. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at St. Savior Catholic Church at 4136 Myrtle Avenue (45236).
