Coach Kearns was a great coach and mentor to many an athlete. His legacy at madeira will never be forgotten. As a new athletic trainer in late 1990's, he taught me a lot about wrestling and what is tolerable or intolerable when it comes to injury supporting. He got me as a green athletic trainer, and I've excelled since then to become well-educated in movement patterns, strain and pain patterns and what true injuries are. Enjoy your rest and know the wrestling program is continuing to be strong at Madeira HS.

Coach was the father I never had. I recall a few occasions when Coach told me to shower more regularly after wrestling practices to help reduce my acne problems or to dress more nicely when receiving awards. Those were not criticism, but fatherly advices. I am grateful and fortunate to have him as a mentor, a role model, a teacher, a coach, and a father figure.

Coach Kearns was a good man that molded many of us young boys into young men. I will always be grateful for his compassion and regret not having seen him more over the years after I left high school. The community has lost such a wonderful and unselfish man, I am proud to have been part of his past teams, his coaching made me a better person, thank you Coach, you will be dearly missed by all.

Coach is one of the most significant men in my life. He was more than a coach. He was a mentor and advocate. Being on the wrestling team was the athletic highlight of my time in High School. Bob knew how to speak to each of his wrestlers in a manner that was specific to their temperament. As a counselor who works with young adults, much of what I say and encourage comes from my own father and Bob. His impact on my approach to almost all that I do is indelible. My prayers are with you all.

Mr Kearns was kind and tough as hell; not an easy combo to pull off. Sincerely just appreciated his presence. He inspired me, was a leader of boys who became men. I'm so sorry for your loss but so grateful to have experienced him in my life.

There was no finer educator and man than Bob Kearns. I feel very blessed to have worked with Rita and him from 1992-1999 at Madeira High School. Jenn and Marie were joys to me as an educator and a coach. He was a wonderful mentor to students and fellow faculty members and a true leader in every sense of the word. His calm demeanor and easy smile made every situation better. He will be missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will shine through those he influenced; our world is a better place because of him. Rita, Jenn, and Marie, my heart breaks for your loss. I certainly loved Bob.

I encountered Coach Kearns as player in the early 70s. He was a fantastic mentor and positive influence on many young adults. He was always patient, supportive, and taught us how to be self disciplined. He was very special. Please accept my sympathy and condolences for your loss.

Coarch Kearns was kind and patient with our son"Scotty". Bob 's name should have been on Scotts diploma because it was his determination that pushed him across that gaduating stage. He and his equaly giving wife Rita were examples of good lives poured out for others. Thank you to the Kearn family for letting us see this from the sidelines. Sincerely sad for your lose...Paul and Cindy Greene

I met Bob when I started working at Sellman Middle School in 1972. Throughout the years I was impressed how Bob quietly influenced the students and families around him in such a positive way. We will all miss him!

Have known Bob since collage. Taught, coached, fished and more together. Sending condolences, peace and comfort to the family.
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
