I'm so grateful to have met Gary through Facebook and our family trees in February or 2010. He was extremely kind to me, a distant cousin from California, as he shared information and we figured out our genealogical connection. He brought our family into greater focus for me and I'm forever grateful. Keeping track of each other through Facebook posts was fun and a way to feel our Westerbeck connection. I regret that I never made it to Ohio to meet Gary in person. I continue to pray for Gary and his family and send my love.

Uncle Gary you were the best uncle that there could ever be. You were the most giving and caring uncle. I know you are up there celebrating with family. I know my mom was excited to see you . You don't know how much you are missed here. I know you are in better place but it sure hurts down here. Until we meet again. Love ya

The day I got the call you was in the hospital, I never thought it was going to come to this. I was like, he’s strong, he’s a Westerbeck and he’s got this. Not once did I think my next phone call, was going to be that you didn’t make it. It crushed me. You was always there for me, no matter what. You was right by my side, when I lost my Dad/Your Brother. You definitely left me way to soon. But your now my Guardian Angel, and now you will be with me everywhere I go. I’m going to miss you so much. Especially our phone calls. My favorite drink will always be Washington Apple, because of you. I will always remember that day. It was a sad day for both of us/ but also a happy day for both of us. You will always be my favorite Uncle and I love you more then you will ever know. REST EASY give my Dad and hug for me and tell him I miss him.
