Obituary of James Garfield Gabbard

GABBARD James Garfield, husband of Mary Frances (Eden) for 73 years, son of James and Talitha (Coyle) Gabbard, loving father of Larry (Tonya) Gabbard of Cincinnati, Steven Gabbard deceased, Brenda (the late James) McCourt of Cincinnati, Janet (Paul) Boroff of Lebanon, OH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gregory (Andrea) Gabbard, Melonie Bramel, Brian Lamm, Marc Boroff (Erin), Melissa (Terry) Hardman (Boroff), Daniel (Andrea) McCourt, Markus (Amy) McCourt, Erin Dankel, Keith Gabbard, Michael McCourt, Stephanie Gabbard, and Paige Gabbard. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Amanda, Nicholas, Maria, Christopher, Matthew, Katherine, Laura, Saul, Destiny, Daniel, Paul, Cade, Samuel, Willow, Lake, Calvin, Reagan, Valerie, Erica, Valarie Gracelynn, Sydney, Julia, Jack, Mia, Declan, Teegan, Chase, Madeline, Liam, Eli, and Luke. Great-great grandchildren Kurt, Rosella, Fin, and Will. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, son Steven, son-in-law James, brothers Russell, Ralph, Jay, and Elmer and sisters Bernice and Ruby as well as many nieces and nephews. James passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5th at the age of 92. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, January 12th from 9:30 until time of service at 11:00 at Urbancrest Church 2634 Drake Road, Lebanon, OH 45036. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. James was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Deer Park, Ohio. James retired from CSX after working 37 years for the railroad. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Berea, Kentucky for more than 50 years. James loved dogs from his early childhood throughout his life. He was an excellent gardener and loved growing vegetables as well as many beautiful flowers and roses.
