I’m just learning of Dr. Stahl’s passing - 11/15/24. She was my phenomenal Dr. for many years. Her knowledge, kindness and compassion for all her patients was incredible!
I used to see her and Rita many times at our favorite place - Wildbirds Unlimited.
The world has lost a beautiful woman. May she rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to Rita and all Dr. Stahl’s family.

Dr. Stahl was the best. She was my doctor from 1987 until her retirement. I lived in Iowa for 7 years. We often spoke of her roots. Always kind and caring and very professional. Many of us wondered why she left her practice. We thought it must be illness. I found out tonight she lived near a friend of mine. She told me how she fed the deer. Rita if you read this you have my condolences.

Not only was Dr Stahl an amazing doctor, educator and mentor, she was so caring and patient as she helped walk me through every stage of breast cancer. I think of her so often and I am extremely grateful! Because of Dr Stahl I saw my children graduate high school, became a grand mother and rode my bicycle through France. We’ve lost one of the best surgeons in Cincinnati. Gone from this world but NEVER forgotten!

Dr. Stahl was my doctor for many years until she retired. She was my favorite. Always smiling, professional, kind and compassionate. Tiny but mighty. I never forgot her and it was today that I asked about her as I always do with my new Breast Dr and she gave me the sad news. I really cared about her as a friend as well as a medical professional. She will never be forgotten. You’ve earned your wings. Fly and enjoy God and the heavenly host. Thank you for all you’ve done to help others including me. Rest In Peace. ❤️

I just learned of Donna’s passing I graduated with her at Augustana and studied premed with her
The tribute is right on when the heart feels love it never forgets
She taught me so much
I was going to go off and save the world
And Donna said so many need help right here
She was right of course so I listened and extended the prayer to pray that God would light my mind to cure thy ills and when I cannot to embrace them in God’s love
Thank you my friend
When I teach medicine I never forget what Donna taught me
and I try to pass it on
And I know she made this world a better place
Thank you friend

I am so sorry to learn of Dr. Stahl’s passing. She was a very special person and a great Dr. to me for over 25 years. I have missed her during her illness as I would see her in office every 6 months. I know that I am not her only patient feeling her loss as she treated us all with the same care and respect. RIP Dr. Stahl you deserve it. Love and sincere sympathy, Linda Darnold

Julie shared the story about Donna converting her garage into a large temperature controlled indoor cat shelter with an outdoor enclosure. That's a picture of Donna proudly standing beside it. The goal was to save from coyotes the rest of the large, fixed stray cat colony that she adopted when she discovered them living there. In 2008, Donna connected herself to community cat expertise via Neighborhood Cat Helpers and proceeded to help many cats there and elsewhere. She even learned to do some feline trap-neuter-return (TNR) work. Although she was compassionate and caring for all animals and people, she devoted most of her efforts to helping cats, and many have since crossed the Rainbow Bridge ahead of her.
"After we reach our heavenly reward, our paths may cross again. You will try to return the piece of my heart with thanks for all that I did for you. I will tell you to keep it and thank you for showing me that I could be better than I thought I could be, and that I learned in giving came the greatest gifts" (ARF). Donna lived a life devoted to "widening her circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty" (Albert Einstein).
The greatest tribute we can give to her is to go forth and do likewise. Neighborhood Cat Helpers, Director

What an amazing woman Donna was! I was so fortunate to know her both as my breast cancer surgeon and as a treasured friend. She was a rare combination of brilliance, empathy, gentility and incredible kindness. Her knowledge in the breast cancer field was immense. Dr. Stahl dedicated her life to the well-being of her patients and I am so blessed to have been among them.
Donna's compassion extended to all creatures who were lucky enough to find their way to her home. She made a loving home for every stray cat that came her way. For those who may not know, in addition to all the cats Donna cared for in her home over the decades, she had her garage converted into a home for cats too feral to be pets. The garage was complete with air conditioning, heating and an outdoor cat enclosure that allowed the cats to safely view the world. She fed the local deer and other wildlife daily banquets of sunflower seeds and fruit. Her generosity knew no bounds.
Donna never stood on ceremony. Today, Easter Sunday, I think back to Donna's willingness to don the Easter bunny costume to delight the nieces and nephews that came to Rita Sauer's annual Easter egg hunt extravaganza. Please see the picture of Rita and Donna (that's Donna in the Easter bunny costume).
Donna made the world a far better and kinder place while she was with us. I will always remember her with gratitude and love.
Always,
Julie Rimer
