Obituary of Bernice Kay Smith
Bernice Kay Smith (née Patterson), of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on August 31 at the age of 79.
Born September 4, 1943 to Fred and Dorothy Patterson in Montgomery, Ohio. Bernice, a beloved mother of four (Dale, Dean, Julie and Jerry) and step-mother of two (Jami and Randy); spouse and companion of 48 years to her husband James, passed away, in-sleep, Wednesday, August 31st, after a well-lived life.
Bernice was one of five children born to Fred and Dorothy: twin- sister to Felice, sister to June, and brothers Fred and David
Although beset by illness for many years she still enjoyed life, traveling country-wide, ocean-cruising, and card-playing with family and friends.
Bernice experienced a variety of professions, from manufacturing to school-bus driver to bowling-lane attendant, to stay-at-home mother. A lover of traveling, she achieved a dream in the ‘70’s of traveling the Continental US in a multi-week tour with her husband James, her mother Dorothy, and all six children. Her passions were Bowling, Square-Dancing, Camping Family & Friends, Bingo and Cards.
Preceded in death by parents Fred and Dorothy Patterson, brothers Fred and David Patterson and stepson Randy Smith. Survived by her devoted husband and companion of 48 years, James, sons Dale Julien, Dean (Annie) Julien, daughter Julie Myrick (fiancé Danny Pinger), Jerry Smith, step-daughter Jami Godsey, grandchildren Seika, Weldon, Rothany, Ashley, Branden, Kyle, Jacob, Justin, Jordan and step-grandchildren Cheyenne, Joshua, Tyler and Zackery, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Alyssa and Brennen, and numerous great-grandchildren, and sisters June Reinert and Felice Chapman.
