Obituary of Annie E. (nee Uehlin) Wilmers
Annie E. (nee Uehlin) Wilmers defeated Alzheimer's on October 22, 2023, at age 69.
In her 13-year journey with the disease, she remained feisty and found joy in many pursuits. She played softball for 54 years, and enjoyed biking, pottery, painting, traveling, music, and merrymaking.
Annie was the beloved wife of Joe Wilmers for 39 years, the cherished mother of Andrew (Jamie), Liz (Pablo), and Emily (Luke). A devoted grandmother to Sylvie, Zoey, and Leo. Loving sister of Steve (Sandi), Katy, Frank (Ginny), Julie (Joe), Jim Uehlin and sister-in-law Eneida Uehlin. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome, and Mary (nee Ryan) Uehlin Gorman and siblings William and Michael Uehlin and Sally (David) Benkner. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Annie grew up in Dillonvale and enjoyed riding imaginary horses down to the "crick" with her siblings. She sold eggs to neighbors and saved her earnings to buy a bike. She later rode that bike to and from Regina High School in Norwood. Annie graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing, and joined the nursing ranks along with her mom, Aunt Julie, and sister Katy. She worked at Children's, Good Sam, and Shriners Burns Institute where she met and later married the schoolteacher, Joe.
A mass will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 7121 Plainfield Rd. (45236) Deer Park, where she and Joe were married.
A celebration of her life with lunch and entertainment will commence at 12Noon at St. Savior Church, 4136 Myrtle Ave. (45236) in nearby Rossmoyne, where Annie went to elementary school. Dress casually and wear bright festive colors to commemorate Annie's fun-loving spirit. Thanks to the many folks who supported her on her journey. You may consider a memorial gift in her name to:
