Obituary of Charles L. Mitchell

Charles L. and Georgene R. (nee Phillips) Mitchell are the loving parents of Nicolette (Billy) Gay, Cyndy (the late John) Klaene, Tony (Stacey) Mitchell, Tim (Nancy) Mitchell, and the late Carla Paniel; the devoted grandparents of Todd (Marty) Ropog, Carrie Paniel Bara, Stacey Paniel Bon, Tina Paniel, Charles Gay, Chris (Andrea) Mitchell, Devon Mitchell, Julian Klaene, Kelsey (Josh) McIntyre, Michelle (Brian Hoernig) Klaene, Abbie (Derrick Johns) Mitchell, Jordyn (Drew) Hammer, Maria (David) Ure, Dakotah Mitchell; and great-grandparents of Mariska Ropog, Drayke Gay, Dayne Gay, Liam Mitchell, Payton Mitchell-Roseberry, Naomi Johns, Georgie Bon, Margot Bon, Miles Mitchell, Wesley Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell, and great-great-grandparents of Braelin Gay. Charles was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (nee Cox) Mitchell, brother of Milicent Baker, and uncle of Cathye Onur. Georgene was the daughter of the late George and Julia Phillips and step-daughter of the late William Rocky, the sister of Arlene (John) Hess, the late Joan (Donald) Willems, and Judith (Robert) Basilico, the aunt of Loren Green, Lelani Testworth, Kristin Romano, Billy Tetsworth, Mark Tetsworth, Kevin Tetsworth, Virgil Tetsworth, Lisa Parkulo, Tanya Knappman, Donnie Willems, the late David Willems, Jon Willems, Tama Clasby, Teddy Willems, Marty Willems and the late Missy Willems, Allisun Feazell, Ave Smith, Ashlee Dawson; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Charles and Georgene were married for 72 years before Georgene passed away on November 14, 2020, at the age of 91. During this time, COVID restrictions prevented any public gatherings, so like many families, no serves were able to be held and Georgene was cremated. Charles passed away on Tuesday, April 16th, at the age of 96. He had kept Georgene’s urn with him, so that they could have their services together. The Mitchell family would like to invite friends and family to celebrate both Charles and Georgene’s life, and will be having a visitation on Saturday, April 27th, from 10AM until the time of the funeral service, 11AM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood. Both Charles and Georgene will be interred at Laurel Memorial Gardens, next to their daughter Carla, immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
