Joan and Family- I am quite sure there are no words that could adequately express the respect I have for Jim. What an amazing individual. I have and will always treasure our week with you at the ranch. That time in 2002, although a world away is a treasure and was so formative for Ann Mare and me. We always tell Jude the story of Jim loving his face as he fed him pickles. He made an indelible impression on what we believe is the definition on a REAL MAN. We continued to stay in touch over the years via email--he was so devoted to his wife in every email--so touching and so very much Jim. The world was a much better place knowing that Jim was in it--as I reflect on his life so well lived I am again inspired to make my run at leaving a similar legacy. Not in his vast philanthropic, civic or corporate accomplishments--but in a life well lived --highlighted by a unwavering devotion to his wife, children and the faith that sustained him. I will keep Jim close in prayer and reach out to him to intercede for my family along the way. May your faith buoy you all until the grief gives way to the fondest of memories. With deepest sympathy-- TD, Ann Marie, Jude, Ellie, Aidan, Annie, Hope, and Jonah Dierker

To our friends Joan, Dick, Joyce and the Gardner/Farmer siblings and families. Jim was a very special person who always made us feel part of your family. He was always positive, funny, outgoing and genuine. He made a mark in this world by loving and giving to others in need. He witnessed his faith in our Lord and Savior. We are so sorry for your loss.

I only had the privilege of meeting Jim once. Ironically it was almost exactly a year ago. We has breakfast with Roger Thesing to discuss our program at Purcell Marian. I was truck by his humility. However he balanced that humility with great charm and humor. He spoke at length about his love for his family and his Catholic faith. That was far more important than all of his accomplishments. Our community has lost one of its truly great cornerstones. However, he has left a legacy of kindness and compassion that will live on in his memory. May God bless your family.

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of... time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break. May you be open to each thread that comes into your life - the golden ones and the coarse ones - and may you weave them into a brilliant and beautiful life" ~An ancient Chinese belief~ Uncle Jim wove those threads so beautifully. I'm so fortunate to have been one of the threads in his life. My prayers and love to Aunt Joan, Linda, Lori, Spence, Peggy and all who miss Uncle Jim.
