Obituary of Beverly Elson

ELSON Beverly Ann (nee Bacon) passed away peacefully on December 27, 2013 at the age of 78 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Jamie M. Bacon. Bev was the beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Elson and her four children: Jamie A. Hackler (Gary), David R. Elson (Claire), Stacey L. Elson, and Diane L. Bankoff (James). Beverly was a loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Leslie Hackler, Nora, Kate and Margaret Elson and George, Elson and John Bankoff. Bev was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Pleasant Ridge. She graduated from Withrow High School in 1954 where she was voted the friendliest in her class of 554. Bev attended the University of Cincinnati where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1956, Bev was crowned Miss Cincinnati as a part of the Miss America Pageant. She transferred to The Ohio State University to study in their Dental Hygiene program where she met the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Bob at the age of 22. Bev was blessed with a beautiful voice. She loved to sing and perform with the Junior League choral group bringing joy to nursing homes throughout the city. She enjoyed her friends and social events over her 42 years at Kenwood Country Club. Her love of golf contributed to being the first lady to get a hole-in-one on Kendale #11. A memorial service will be held at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, 5125 Drake Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45243 on Saturday, January 11th at 1:00 PM.
