James Henry, beloved husband for 53 years to Phyllis (nee Riedeman) Cartwright, cherished father of Elizabeth Gilbert (John) Otteson of Indianapolis and Ried Henry Cartwright of Cincinnati, devoted grandfather of James and Julia Otteson and Henry and Sawyer Cartwright, sister Jean Cartwright Roos (deceased) and brother of John Gilbert Cartwright (Clarice Jane) of Traverse City, MI. Passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, January 2nd at the age of 77. Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service on Saturday, January 7th at 11 a.m. at the Mariemont Community Church chapel on Cherry Lane. There will be a reception following. Jim graduated from Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, MI., where he was captain of the football team. He also graduated from the University of Michigan School of Engineering. Jim was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He used this education to travel the world working as a professional engineer for various manufacturing firms. The family lived in London, Johannesburg and Cincinnati. After retiring, Mr. Cartwright was a resident of Long Lake, Traverse City, MI and Cincinnati, dividing his time between both. He was a member of the Mariemont Kiwanis Club and an avid golfer. Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease 18 years ago and never became a victim of his ailment. He was a man of integrity, a rock for his family and a loyal friend.
