Our hearts are truly broken to learn of Joey's passing! Our condolences are with Kristina, the children and family. I, Star, will always have fond memories of our time together as colleagues at Aurora Elementary School in Anchorage, AK, bowling together and most specially when we visited Joey, Kristina and the kids in Washington State! The large Bald Eagle painting Joey gave me one Christmas while we were at Aurora which hangs in hallway of our CO home, will be a constant reminder of how thoughtful and special Joey was!!!
Rest in Peace, my friend. Al & Star

To Kristina and your family and to Joey's parents and family my deepest condolence. I have not seen Joey for many years and always thought we would reunite again...so this comes as a complete shock to me. Joey was such a good person and friend during the years I did get to know him that so many times something would happen in my life and I would think of Joey and laugh to myself and tell myself I need to call him so we can catch up on each others lives. I wish I did! I will always remember all of the times we had and how he made a difference in my life as I know he has in so many others! Love you Joey! Nine kids...thats a baseball team.

After years of putting up with Joe's pranks, my wife Kathy and I, as well as our friends Cindy Wells and Kenny Daliendo, decided to pull one on Joe. We conspired to tell Joe the 1987 Super Bowl game was being televised in 3-D and he HAD to wear 3-D glasses to watch the game.
Upon Joe's arrival, "in Fiore time" (in other words, late), we handed him a pair of 3-D glasses. During the first quarter, he kept saying his glasses weren't working, but we insisted ours were. He kept trying to convince us to switch. As hard as he tried to swap (charm, flirt, bribe) with someone, no one would let him. We laughed so hard, we had to let him in on the secret before the end of the first quarter. Joe, being Joe, had a few choice words for each of us. Unable to stay mad at anyone for long, he hugged us all and said, "Good one!"
In Loving Memory,
Don, Kathy and friends

Kris, it has been a long time. I am so sorry for your loss. Joey and I were once very close as you know. We spent much of lives together. I know that nothing anyone says can deminish the loss and anguish you are feeling right now. I can only hope that with the love of your family and friends, you can find the strength to persevere. My father passed away in October of last year, so I know how it hurts. I always cared greatly for you and your fimily. If there is anything you need or, like in the past, just need someone to talk to, please feel free to call. 253-405-4304. With my sincerest love and compassion. God bless you and your family.

We were just kids when we met, and although so many years have passed, the memories seem like yesterdays'. How fortunate to have known Joey, and to still remain close to his family. Surely, he was meant to have 9 children, so that each one of them, might bring a special something of Joey to every part of their lives, and to wherever their paths lead them. I will miss his spirit and smile, and I pray that our Dearest Lord bless and guide you all, give you strength, and peace in these days, and months to follow. My sincerest condolences and love, Cheryl

What a , surprise, shock, and mystery after all the prayers and fight for Joey to continue to live in this world, and I can feel the pain as I write. There is a room that we must eventually put many of our burdens, events, and relationships. It is called the room of Mystery and Majesty. There are times like now especially when it is okay to visit that room and weep again, bathe in the mystery, and bow to the Majesty. With each visit to the room, the pain will be less and the understanding more, but the mystery will still shroud the room, and we must say great is the mystery of God and joy comes in the morning!
Lord, we pray for the Fiore family. In their grief Lord give them peace, a peace that passes all understanding, a peace when there is no understanding of your ways. Let there be moments of overwhelming comfort and confidence in you, for your ways are not ours, and how can we know your thoughts.
Encompass them with your presence, and supernatural faith and courage to go forward in the continued healing of hearts that will surely progress through you.
Love them, Lord, in ways that others cannot. Hold them, Lord, when we fail with human arms, and human inability to express in words. Hear their prayers and give them the ability to hear You back in whatever language each one of them would best understand.
And finally, we thank you for Joey, what a wonderful creation this world will miss, until He returns with you in your glory or when we join with Him in our passing to the next life. We thank you for the fact that He is not dead, but alive and well in your eternal presence this day. We ask your grace to abound to all those who remain and whom will miss Him, in Jesus name, Amen.
The Ricciardelli's love the Fiore family. Time and distance does not change that. Joey is in the place that we are all heading, He also is now part of the cloud of witnesses that is loving, praying and cheering His family and friends on. I grieve with you in the mystery, but I also rejoice with you in the Majesty of Joey's life and passing to glory,

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Everett, my husband, several years ago when our kids were young, helped coach when our sons, Dosh and Jordan and Mateo and Mckeel, had been on sports teams together. it is so difficult to image that men so youthful and in shape could be taken so young. What I do remember about Joey is always seeing him involved with his kids. I can only imagine how much he will be missed. We are in hope that your many memories, can keep the warmth of his spirit close and that he left you with invaluable love and strength.

I wanted to share a brief story that I shared with Joey last year at the walk for Autism when he was in Tampa visiting. The two of us played one on one in game as I remember and always felt I was a pretty good basketball player-Joey beat me and I gave it all I had... Last year we spoke about this and I told him to that day I still cannot believe he beat me in the game.. I will certainly miss his great personality and unique way of looking at life. God Bless your family during this time and always.

How sad to hear of Joey's untimely death. We were shocked when we heard he had developed cancer and it was so good to visit him when he was at Bethesda Hospital in January. Then Mike told me he was back at Bethesda when I called last week and so I stopped by Bethesda last Thursday and was so pleased that I had a few moments to talk with Joey. He was coherent and we had a nice talk about the wonderful life he and Kristina had lived and the precious legacy he is leaving in your 9 fantastic children. I will cherish that visit until my time comes to meet Joey in heaven. Kristina do know that you and your family have been and will always be in our thoughts and prayers. We love you very much and will so miss seeing Joey at Mass at St. Gertrude's. Don & Joan Schmitt
