Obituary of Wendy Sturgis Love

STURGIS Wendy Sturgis Love, 52, died Dec. 31, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. She was a woman who could light up a room with her larger-than-life personality and never settled for the ordinary. Wendy was born Feb. 8, 1964, in Cherry Point, NC, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from St. Ursula Academy, proudly following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, the late Dolores Leaman. Wendy also lived in Reno, Nev., for nearly seven years before becoming a resident of Potomac Falls, Va., in 2013. Wendy was an award-winning media sales executive for Enquirer Media, Clear Channel and Jacor Communications. While at the Enquirer, she played a key role in staging the Cincinnati Enquirer Cammy Awards, an event that showcased the city’s local music scene. She also was at the forefront of the Enquirer’s move to digital as one of the first sales and marketing executives during the launch of Cincinnati.Com. She then expanded the Enquirer’s portfolio by launching CiN Weekly magazine, which served young professionals and sponsored social events around the city. Beyond her professional accomplishments, her greatest passion and sense of purpose was her family. Before starting her own, Wendy took great pride in being “Aunt Wendy” to her nieces and nephews – but especially her nieces, lavishing them with clothes, sleepovers and all things pink. In 2013, Wendy topped off her LinkedIn profile with a new title: “Owner and VP of The Love Household,” indicating her top priority would be her boys: husband Beryl, son William – and later adopting their beloved dog, Butter Love. Wendy enjoyed Fox News (especially Greta Van Susteren, whom she connected with on Twitter), books, 70s music, celebrity magazines and antique shops. She was a familiar face at Potowmack Elementary School and had a passion for all things Cincinnati – the Reds and Bengals, Skyline Chili and Montgomery Inn, and any and all things Greek as she embraced Beryl’s heritage with an enthusiastic “opa!” Wendy boldly owned her fashion, from vintage to modern, from monogrammed flip-flops at a Reds game to elegant gowns at The White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, DC. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, pink lipstick and her full head of curly brown hair – which she often straightened to the dismay of her husband. Wendy is survived by her husband, Beryl Wineland Love II; son, Beryl William Love II; mother, Patricia Leaman Sturgis Basinger; father, John (Jack) Edward Sturgis; siblings Jenny L. Foley, Amy L. Lambert (Jay), and Michael J. Sturgis (Jennifer); and 14 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6th from 10AM until the time of funeral service 1PM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236). Because of organ donation and the incredible transplant team at the University of Maryland Medical Center, family and friends were able to enjoy nearly two additional years with Wendy.
