Obituary of Beatrice A. O'Connor
Beatrice "Betty" Ann (Adams) O'Connor passed away on May 30th, 2018 at Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, South Dakota. Betty was born in Fayetteville, Ohio on July 9th, 1926. Betty had five siblings. Sisters; Eileen Holbrook-dec'd (spouse Ralph-dec'd), Dorothy Rouchon (spouse Robert-dec'd), Carol DeFayette (spouse Gary) and two brothers, Donald Adams-dec'd (spouse Ella-dec'd) and Steven Adams and wife Maria. Betty and Francis O'Connor were married on February 16th, 1946. They have four children, Mary O'Connor, Ruth Ann and husband Bill Logan, FX O'Connor and wife Brisa, Marty O'Connor and wife Angie. Betty and Francis have eight grandchildren, Nate, Ferd, Matthew, Billy, Ben (dec'd), Kayla, Daniel and Keagan. They also have 6 great grandchildren, Frank, Maddie, Kylee, C.J., Kenna, Mason.
Betty loved being raised on a farm as a child and later living on their farm, known as, "Ronnoco Farm" near Blanchester, Ohio. Betty and Francis gardened, raised cattle and sheep for 4-H and FFA for their children and a variety of crops and hay. They enjoyed family picnics and hayrides. Betty enjoyed cooking and canning vegetables from the garden. She was an avid poet and had her own book of poetry called, "Just Betty."
In her later years, Betty moved to Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, South Dakota where she continued writing poetry, playing bingo and visiting with other residents.
Betty lived life to the fullest. She would walk up to 5 miles a day in rain, sleet and snow up until the time she could not physically do so. While at Majestic Bluffs while staying in the "Cabin," area, Betty continued to walk until the last few weeks of her life. Betty even played the piano for others to enjoy. Betty read her Bible and stayed close to the Lord to her last day.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June the 8th. The Visitation will be at St. Margaret of Cortona Church located at 6000Murray Ave., Fairfax (45227). Cincinnati from 9am to 10am, followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at the church, followed with the burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Avera Sacred Heart Foundation, 501 Summit, Yankton, SD., 57078 are requested.
