Obituary of Marjorie Anne McCarthy
Marjorie, known as “Margie” to family as friends, was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. McCarthy for 64 years. She passed away peacefully at home June 25, 2018. Margie was born in Logan, Ohio on April 24, 1923 to Clara and Joseph Ucker. She was the sixth of seven children. She was raised in Columbus, Ohio where she met and married her beloved husband in 1948. Margie was the loving mother of five children, Molly (Bruce) Vollmer, Christina McCarthy, Kathy (Rick) Maxwell, Kevin (Mary Ellen) McCarthy, and Sheila (Steve) Bandy. She is survived by her eight grandchildren, Brian and Colleen Maxwell, Katie, Alyssa and Kevin McCarthy, and, Patrick, Ryan, and Sean (Colleen) Bandy. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Jake and Max Vollmer, Liam and Siena Fildes and Hunter and Dylan Vollmer. Margie was preceded in death by her sister Mary Louise Hale and her brothers, Leonard, William, John, Thomas and David Ucker. Margie and her children and grandchildren enjoyed working on crafts together. Bob and Margie were world travelers visiting over 60 countries and six continents. They spent many wonderful vacations traveling with their children and grandchildren. Margie and Bob were members of St. Gertrude and St. William Catholic Churches, Kenwood Country Club, Royal Poinciana Golf Club, and the Naples Yacht Club. She has been a Florida resident since 1984. A visitation for the friends of Molly and Christina will be held on Thursday, June 28th from 5-7PM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236). The entire McCarthy family will receive friends on Friday, June 29th from 12 Noon until the time of Mass of Christian Burial, 1PM at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 6543 Miami Ave. Madeira, OH (45243). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Margie to Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633579, Cincinnati, OH (45263-3597) or to Dominican Missions, C/O St Gertrude, 6543 Miami Ave, Cincinnati, Oh.
