BUCKLEY William "Bill" Abraham, May 4, 1924 to February 23, 2012. Survived by his wife he deeply loved and adored for nearly 22 years, Ruth (nee Ownley) Isaacs Buckley. William Buckley and his late wife, Patricia (nee Mongenroth), were blessed with nine children all surviving him, Daniel (Mary Ann) Buckley, William David (Lorraine) Buckley, Diane (Randall) Jackson, Deacon Donald (Laura) Buckley, Debra (David) Imbus, Mary Denise (Bobby) Bell, Peggy (Jim) McRoberts, Patricia Buckley (Kashi Honarhkah and Marie (Nicholas) Coldwell. He is also survived by his step-children Dr. Tim Isaacs and Rev. Dr. Barbara Isaacs, 39 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and his two sisters, Vida Jacques and Geraldine Flora. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Genevieve Bell. William Buckley had only a ninth grade education from Augusta, Kentucky. He was employed by the Kroger Company in New Richmond, OH where he became a manager until he was drafted at 18 years of age. He went in to WWII and was trained in the United States Army Air Corps as an aircraft engineer. His crew was with the 491st Ringmasters Bombardment Unit in the B24 bomber called "Here's To You". He flew many missions and had many brushes with death. Following the war, he completed Miller School of Business for accounting, spent 13 years going to the University of Cincinnati's night school and was made a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda for his high achievements. He later completed graduate studies at Dartmouth College in the field of Credit and Financial Management. He was president of the Credit Association, National Director of the National Association of Credit and Financial Management and First Chairman of the Fine Paper Credit Group. He was Credit Man of the Year in 1965 and Boss of the Year in 1966 as selected by the Cincinnati Secretarial Society. Bill was employed for 40 years at Sabin Robins Paper Company as an officer of the credit division. For 10 years he was a member of the board of directors for Phillip Bell Wholesale Furniture. He was a Kentucky Colonel, an avid golfer, a pool shark, a hunter, a fisherman, he wore his 300 bowling ring proudly, exercised daily at 5AM at the YMCA and joined his friends at the Kroger Coffee Club. But his greatest experience was his miraculous conversion to Catholicism in 1980 in a profound Holy Spirit experience that instantaneously changed his life. And for the last 21 years he has gone to daily mass at St. Gertrude Church in Madeira and attended a Friday morning Bible Study affiliated with Armstrong Chapel UMC. His devotion to the Eucharist and the Bible are two reasons he attributed his acceptance, readiness and peace to "board that Glory Train for the Celestial City" following a battle with leukemia. We miss his funny country ballads he played on the guitar, harmonica or jaw harp. We most certainly miss his stories, positive attitude, gregarious personality and love. He was well fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Church at his death. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday, February 27th from 3-8PM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236). Eulogies will be from 9:30AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM on Tuesday, February 28th at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 7630 Shawnee Run Rd. (45243). Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. If desired, the family asks that donations be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633598 (45263), St. Gertrude Catholic Church or Armstrong Chapel UMC, 5125 Drake Rd. (45243).
